Hi, i’m hannah!

I’m so glad you’re here

I am a queer, small fat, white woman and I am committed to providing trauma-informed and pleasure-centered therapy. I am a social worker and use a systems-informed approach to support you within the context of your lived experience.

I became a therapist after years of teaching sex education and sexual assault prevention work. In my own life, I was struggling to find a clinician who could see me as a whole person — not just a set of symptoms. I realized that marginalized folks, specifically queer folks and sexual violence survivors, deserved so much more humanity and softness from their providers, and I strive to provide that.

When I’m not in the office you can find me cooking, swimming in cold bodies of water, hugging my favorite people and dogs; seeking and sharing pleasure and joy wherever I am.

Services and modalities

I specialize in working with queer folks, survivors of sexual violence, fat liberationists and leftist activists. I also work with neurodivergent folks, specifically late diagnosed folks. Additionally, I offer specific support for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (and humanitarian aid workers in general). If you think we might be a good relational fit, I encourage you to reach out and schedule a consultation. One hour sessions cost $165, and 90-minute sessions cost $250.

  • I use a systems-informed, client-centered approach to talk therapy. I use a blend of IFS/parts work, narrative therapy, CBT and existential therapy to support you in your therapeutic goals.

  • EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a highly-effective trauma therapy modality that taps into our brain’s inherent ability to heal itself and process trauma. Using bilateral stimulation, I will support you as you decrease the intensity and impact of traumatic experiences. EMDR is almost always done in conjunction with some form of talk therapy.

  • I am an RPCV (Paraguay 2015-2017) and have an intimate understanding of the challenges that come with returning to the States, and the trauma that many of us deal with during our service. If you’d like to work with a therapist with this specific understanding, let’s connect!

  • Coaching is a solution-focused, task-based relationship. This is a great option if you are hoping to gain a specific skill (eg. boundary setting, sexual communication) or get educational support around certain themes (eg. self love, self advocacy). Coaching is available across statelines and is not considered therapy.

  • If you are hoping to learn about starting a private practice, learn how to better support survivors in your workplace, or consult on clients, I am thrilled to be able to support you.

  • Groups and workshops will be scheduled on a quarterly basis. Topics range from sex education for grown-ups to reclaiming sexual pleasure and everything in between. I am available to facilitate workshops in your workplaces, book clubs, bachelorette parties, campsite…just email pleasurecenteredcounseling@gmail.com or go through the contact page on this website
